You should see the GPO "link order" on you're right. The way it was supposed to work was that on login, a group policy would trigger several scripts depending on the user's assigned groups in the Active Directory and those scripts Windows 7 - No Logon Screen Saver - Logon.SCR File... my review here If I map a drive using preferences and apply it direct to an OU that is (say) a user group, the drive maps properly.

It will not influence the group policy application on the clients. If you leave it on, the preference mapping will work with XP machines, but not Win7.
