Every other policies works fine except map drive. Also the GPOP printer adding requires the GPO setting to allow normal users to install drivers. You must have mentioned in your post as it would be clear for all those people who is beginner like me. When I ran the rsop on a profile that was unable to map the drives, it told me it didn't have the right password. There is an option to "Remove this item when it is no longer applied" which would remove the drive maps after the GPO has been unlinked. I hope the workaround you post above would fix my issue.
