When the first HRM started malfunctioning a couple of months ago, I tried cleaning the strap, tightening the strap, replacing the battery, and updating the firmware. After replacing the battery was unsuccessful, I found your post, bent the tab, and now it works just fine. My HRM stopped working a week ago and changing the battery didn't do the trick. I did a six hour run yesterday, and after the first two miles the HR was as good as useless. https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?14882-problem-to-pair-the-heart-rate-monitor
